With the holidays behind us, I have enjoyed reflecting on time spent together with family. As I look through family photos of us celebrating, it reminds me how important documenting our family history is. It blows me away that the invention of the digital camera is still fairly new and wonder how our ancestors may have documented their lives differently, had they had a DSLR.

Family is so important and preserving our memories is a passion of mine. It’s fascinating to see how family history and social media are changing the way we connect with family living and dead. For example, my aunt Shari created a FB page for all of my grandfathers relatives: Thurgoods. Through this site, we have been able to share family photos and connect with family members near and far.

Roots Tech is brining all this together at their annual conference held right here in Salt Lake City.

i’m excited to announce that I will be a part of the Roots Tech blogger team for 2013 on March 21-23, 2013 in Salt Lake City, UT.
